Wendell Humphrey is a Shoshone-Bannock, who lives in Perry County. As he learned about his heritage and cultural, he found that this knowledge helped him in his many varied types of artistic expression. He is very active in passing on this knowledge.

This year, the Retreat offers many more opportunities to refresh, rejuvenate, and relax.

Friday night concert

The weekend will begin Friday, March 27, with a musical performance by Terri Riveria Piatt, who was nominated for a 2008 Native American Music Award, and Athens area eco-fem folk artist, Megan Cameron.

$10 donation for concert if you are not attending the retreat.


Saturday and Sunday

Nature hike with Birder Jeff Calhoun who will help
you identify the different bird calls you hear in
early spring. The Carpenter Inn and Conference
Center is located on 250 acres of rolling hills,
wooded areas, and meadows.



Terri and Megan will lead a water blessing in which individuals will be invited to soak their feet allowing toxins to leave their body, truly refreshing and rejuvenating them.

Make your very own Native American frame drum for healing and connceting to spirit.

Not only will you make a drum, but Wendel will show you how to use it to connect with spirit. He will also conduct drummings on individuals if they chose to balance the chakras.

TERRI RIVER-PIATT, (Sings with Ravens) is known by many as a gifted psychic and Curandera -female healer. She sometimes employs the use of a Temezcal (sweat-lodge) to talk to spirit and find the source of an illness, then cleanse, heal, and retrieve lost parts of your soul. She can also see and hear people's spirit names.

Terri is explaining how to pass the pipe during a pipe ceremony.
Then people will be invivted to enter the quiet contemplation of a Labyrinth walk to usher in spring, quiet their mind, and relax.

There are two work exchange scholarships available for this retreat. $50 without lodging, $90 with lodging.
